Concert Evolution

“The journey of songs in search of health”

.

2013-2023

.

A narrative about the expression of life on Earth through music and human beings.

Music and communication as the essence of life, the concert in which we find ourselves.

A journey and reflection through different cultures and experiences of music over time. From the legacy of contemporary traditions to the remote stories told by traditional songs of Australian Aborigines.

.

Objective

The main objective of the project is to share the legacy that is gathered during the journey, by providing the material to the institutions and public centers that investigate it. First 3D sound recordings of an extensive repertoire.

In the documentary, we can enjoy a part of the journey and some examples of the recordings that have been made during it.

With all this, we want to contribute positively to the conservation and dissemination of a legacy that is in many cases almost forgotten. The importance of musical communication, attraction, and creativity in cooperation between people and cultures.

.

Project

The project arises from different encounters with the artist Erkan Oğur, with whom we wanted to reflect and share in the public domain how the human legacy that we know reaches us and the immense diversity of influences and quests for existence. How, through time, we learn stories that make us who we are.

If history begins with the first writing, history begins with Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, who, at one hundred years old, shared with us the principles in the history of humanity. From here, we jump between the most remote times, mixing narrative with the final moment, where we accompany Erkan Oğur to the depths of the mythologies.

.

Style

Sound, music, and word are the protagonists of the documentary. With a colloquial language and without excess of resources, it presents a relaxed and friendly style of meeting with the protagonists and understanding their words and experiences while observing some tests and reconstructions of some of the most important archaeological samples linked to music and communication. Some poetic touches are added to quickly share abstract reflections.

.

Plot

The link between language and music. On this occasion, we want to show how a tool like music is born from life from much earlier times than is usually admitted. How the stories we know about human life also come from songs sung long before written systems were used. The importance of the relationship and communication processes between listening and meanings.

Erkan Oğur, Muazzez Ilmiye Çığ, Brian Mooney, Derya Türkan, Dino Saluzzi, Jorge Pardo, Francis Diatschenko, Renaud Garcia Fons, Tuncay Korkmaz, Ismail H.Demircioğlu, Sinan Cem Eroğlu, Mehmet Çapan, Alp Ersönmez, Dewa Alit, Agung Krishna, Balawan, Wayan Nakan, Dewa Kayonan, Minjarrah Jarret, Wayan Naka, Made Subandi, Wayan Sudarsana, Ketut Tarmadi, Nyoman Suaida, Nyoman Suarsana, Wayan York Eko, David Cameron, Graham Rostron, Kemal Eroğlu, Kutut Kantar.

"The Documentary"

A journey through expression over time, art, health, and the freedom of our nature. The documentary travels through the Cennet (Heaven) cave, recounting a journey through time and the echo of our breathing that emanates from inside the cave. The different scenes between the "Cennet" cave with Erkan Ogur and other locations appear chronologically related metaphorically to the music, stories, characters, and mythologies that surround them. Returning to "Cennet," step by step we leave the cave towards the light and our time. With a metaphorical gesture of Plato's "Allegory of the Cave," the transition from darkness to light.
